NNA picks Phoenix for 2013 convention

October 17, 2012

The National Newspaper Association is pleased to announce that Phoenix, AZ, will be the destination for its 127th Annual Convention & Trade Show, Sept. 12-15, 2013. Phoenix is America’s sixth-largest city, and still has real cowboys and rugged mountains and the kind of cactus most people see only in cartoons. Phoenix is the gateway to the Grand Canyon, and its history is a testament to the spirit of puebloans, ranchers, miners and visionaries.

Convention headquarters will be The Arizona Grand Resort, a AAA Four Diamond property. The resort is the leading Arizona family vacation getaway and Southwest meetings destination. The 740-suite hotel and conference center offers an 18-hole golf course, six swimming pools, 20,000 square-foot Athletic Club and Spa, a 7-acre water park, and seven unique and dining venues. The Arizona Grand is conveniently located just six miles from Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. NNA attendees will enjoy complimentary Internet in guest rooms, complimentary valet and self-parking and complementary access to the hotel’s state of the art fitness center.

John Naughton, publisher of Payson (AZ) Roundup and president of the Arizona Newspapers Association, said that “For more than 125 years, the National Newspaper Association has supported our community newspapers. The landscape is ever changing with new information technologies, and NNA is prepared to continue that support, regardless what delivery platform the news may take. The Arizona Newspapers Association is excited to co-host the 2013 convention, and urges all members to take a few minutes or days to enjoy our beautiful state, one brimming with community newspapers.”
